ISO 45001
The standards for an occupational health and safety (OH&S) management system are outlined in the International Organization for Standardization ISO 45001 standard. It provides a framework businesses may utilize to control hazards and enhance their occupational health and safety performance.
The standard establishes the requirements for an occupational health and safety policy and its goals, development, implementation, operation, auditing, and review processes. Essential elements include workers’ participation, leadership commitment, risk assessment and identification, legal and regulatory standards adherence, emergency plan preparation, incident investigation, and continuous improvement efforts.
ISO 45001 employs the Plan-Do-Check-Act methodology to address possible health and safety risks systematically. Any size company can use this standard and integrate it with other ISO management system standards.
