ISO 29991

The criteria for language learning services outside of formal schooling are outlined in ISO 29991: 2014 certificate. This category includes all language learning services targeted at language learners and those directed at interested parties paying for the services to support language learners. The two most crucial components of any service of this type are interaction with the person receiving education and the learning objectives are defined and evaluated. The training can be delivered in person, through technology, or in a combination of the two formats.

Entities interested in using ISO 29991 will include associations or consortia of language learning service providers of all sizes and types. In cases where the company offering language learning services also provides other learning services or goods, the International Organization for Standardization 29991 will only be used for language learning services.
